ODDS & ENDS Happy Anniversary Adding my two cents on two years of the PO. by S.E. Shepherd November 4, 2002 Coincidence? I think not! Remember, the Webmaster is evil! Tragic events just “happen” around the PO’s anniversary? Please! Wake up and smell the coffee! I was watching “Tomorrow Never Dies” the other day, the James Bond movie where a media mogul creates tragic events so his conglomerate has exclusive rights and outsells all other media, and I couldn’t help but notice how much this mogul looked like our Webmaster! Okay, he looks nothing like the Webmaster, and the Webmaster doesn’t control world events, but he’s still evil! Seriously though, our editor has created a wonderful website, where average people like myself (at least I consider myself average) can spout off about just about anything. None of us get paid for what we write, but personally, I am just grateful to have a place where I can write my opinion on something and have it shared with our 8 million readers (this is Dear Jon’s estimation). The dimensions of the PO have changed somewhat since I’ve been writing. We lost the venerable James Leroy Wilson, but picked up the wily Barnabas. We’ve added Dr. Spin, Casey White, and now Mark D. Johnson, with his TV reviews. But this does not mean we have no room for more voices. I alone remain the one non-columnist for the PO, and let me tell you, it would sure be nice to have someone else sending in the occasional article too. [ The Webmaster feels compelled to note that there have indeed been other non-columnist contributors this year, though perhaps none have matched the volume of S.E. Shepherd's output. And by the way, I will not dignify any comments about my so-called evil-ness with a response. But wouldn't it be a shame if something unfortunate happened to S.E. Shepherd's computer? Hmmm... ] Also, I’ve noticed our FORUMS have gone through several metamorphoses throughout this year, mainly because we don’t get the volume we used to. And there are fewer letters to the editor too. Come on readers, contribute! It’s what makes the PO so much fun, sharing and opining! Okay, now that I did my annual “pledge drive” (the PO is made possible by readers like YOU!), I can go back to my tirades. Bush, Iraq, Snipers, blah, blah, blah… This article was printed from www.partialobserver.com. Copyright © 2013 partialobserver.com. All rights reserved. |
