They're Gonna Put Me in a Movie

Dr Spin,

Dou you know who the jazz singer is that has been appearing of late singing Sinatra standards on Starbuck's commercials?  Does he have any recordings out?  Does he drive a Mitsubishi?  Are his recordings backmasked in any way?

Just Curious

Dear Just,

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Dr Spin,

I watched the movie Rock-a-Die Baby with Kim Milford in it and found out the Jeff Beck Group was in it also.  My question is where to find the movie and the soundtrack or songs from the movie?

Dear Movie Watcher,

I have never heard of that movie, so I had no idea Jeff Beck was in it.

I looked it up on the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com), and found out it was a made-for-TV movie made back in 1975. Movies made for TV before VCRs were common household items rarely made it to video or DVD, unless they were exceptionally popular.

Judging by the fact that I had never heard of "Rock a Die, Baby" and that the IMDb has no listing of places selling this title (also known as "Night of the Full Moon"), I doubt it is available, and I'm guessing there was never a soundtrack made. If you can remember some of the songs used in the movie, perhaps you can check out albums released by the Jeff Beck group around that time and create your own soundtrack. Beck's acclaimed Blow by Blow was released in 1975, so that may be a good place to start.

Dr Spin,

Where did you acquire the handle "Dr. of Rockology?" I first started using the handle about 20 years ago when I was a disk jockey in New England.

Monty "Dr. of Rockology" Wolf

Dear Mr. Wolf,

I never said I was a "Dr. of Rockology," I said I had a degree in Rockology. And I know I'm not the only "Dr. Spin" on the internet, though I believe I am, oddly enough, the only one that talks about music.

I mean no disrespect to any other "Doctors of Rockology" out there.
