Another Appeal for Letters

Dear Fans,

I know that in an earlier sort I said that I don't really need letters to produce columns. That may be true, but your letters do inspire me, too. Consider yourselves hecklers at a Don Rickles show and you get my drift.

Anyway, whether I need them or not, the fact is that I don't have any mail and I am too busy this week to produce a column for letters that aren't there. The sense of humor is like other drives we have; sometimes it needs stimulation. The last round of comics on the Comedy Channel did not do it for me this time. So today, you know, it's not YOU or anything, it's just that I have a head-ache and I don't feel like joking. Okay?

To get us back on track, I'm going to let this column wait until you write, or until you get your friends to write. If you are bored today and needing a Dear Jon fix, I suggest buying my book. That should keep you going.

Letters from women are especially good, because they tend to refresh what would otherwise be just another NFL-themed blog.

Thank you readers. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
