Sauna 3: Innocence

Sauna 3: Innocence_Casey White- "Hi!" Bright. Cheery. Innocent. Happy.

"Hi," I said, softly, and hesitantly. My mind was thinking - Should that mom have left her little child in here alone with a stranger? Here she is all innocent. Big grin. Baby teeth. Ready to learn everything. Wants to meet everybody.

She's looking at me. Big bright eyes. She wonders why I don't say something.

"Is it cold in the pool?"

"Yes." More grins. "I'm learning to swim!" More innocence.

I wonder what she'll be like when she grows older. Will she be athletic, musical, intellectual? Will she write? Will she paint? Will she go to college? Will she go to work? Will she be a lawyer, a police officer, a doctor, a teacher? So much of life is unknown for this one. So much unwritten.

God, may you protect her. Keep her happy. Help her parents to watch over her, love her, and teach her. Keep her innocent, but give her wisdom. Keep her friendly, but protect her from danger.

Her mom comes back from the pool with 5 year old brother in tow. She says it's time to go home and lifts the little girl down from the bench. Less than one minute has passed since she first left her in the sauna.

"Bye!" Head turned back to me, her eyes wide open, and waving hand in motion.

I smile. "G'bye."

And God bless.
